The Development

Welcome to information about Bath Quays North - the most significant office led development in Bath for a generation with the potential to deliver a range of benefits to the city.

Bath is renowned for its unique heritage and Bath Quays North will enhance the economic success and prosperity of the city, creating 2,000 jobs. The development will establish a new business address for Bath, providing flexible, modern office space alongside contemporary riverside living and welcoming spaces for all to enjoy.

Through collaboration with B&NES Council, Legal & General, Bell Hammer, stakeholders and the public, the following Guiding Principles were established and have been incorporated in the design proposals:

Innovative

Building on the history of Bath’s continued innovation across centuries; from Roman Spa to Georgian architecture & town planning through to a 21st century World Heritage site.

Social

Enhancing Bath’s reputation as a vibrant spa town which people visit from around the world to see and be seen.

Design

Design that is refined and elegant, respecting Bath’s beautiful architecture positioned within green landscapes.

Legal & General

Legal & General (L&G) recognises that UK cities need significant investment to adapt, change and innovate and is committed to working in collaboration with councils as well as other public- and private-sector partners to help future-proof regional economies. We aim to deliver real and positive social outcomes for UK cities by creating jobs, high quality and varied housing and better infrastructure through vibrant communities in which people can live longer, healthier and happier lives.

Within the South West, L&G has funded more than seven major schemes over the past five years - helping to establish the region as the UK’s next big metropolitan hub.

Through its existing investments, L&G has a long-term commitment to Bath and the wider South West and believe that our plans for Bath Quays North will have a significant positive impact on the city. L&G is delivering 868 Build to Rent Homes in Bristol, Bath and Cardiff and around 300 homes within an urban retirement scheme in Bath, through its later living operator and developer, Guild Living. Additionally, L&G has forward funded 3 Glass Wharf in Bristol for HMRC’s new hub and has invested into Sovereign Shopping Centre in the centre of Weston-Super-Mare.

Bell Hammer

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Legal and General and B&NES on this flagship project. We are a property development company delivering best in class office buildings and high quality places.

We provide investors and occupiers with inspired design and certainty on delivery. We are committed to developing low energy buildings and ensuring both landlords and occupiers minimise environmental impacts.

To have the chance to develop on such a scale in Bath occurs once in a generation. The size and quality of the office element will enable local companies to grow as well as attract regional, national and international occupiers for whom Bath has never previously been an option, due to the lack of suitable space. With retail, restaurants, hotel and residential uses complementing the business space, Bath Quays North will create an attractive and vibrant addition to the city.
